elysiumgallery is pleased to announce 2 x three month artist residency opportunities at their Swansea High Street studios leading up to a solo exhibition to take place at the Elysium College Street Gallery. This opportunity is open to UK artists who have graduated (BA) no earlier than 2012
When: Residency 1. January – March 2017 with the exhibition May 19 – June 17 Residency 2. April – June 2017 with the exhibition Sept 15 – Oct 14
Payments: There is a payment of £1000 (£500 residency and exhibition fee, £500 materials budget), free studio space with additional monies towards setting up the exhibition.
Details: You will have 24 hour access to your studio (12ft x 8ft) in which time you will be given time and support to research and develop your practice. During the residency you will be required to provide input into the Elysium gallery blog through a studio diary and also meet up with each of the Elysium gallery team of mentors during the residency and in the run up to your exhibition.
The mentors include:
Jonathan Powell & Daniel Staveley from Elysium Gallery, Katy Freer from Glynn Vivian Gallery, Amanda Roderick from Mission Gallery & Craig Wood, Artist & Lecturer.
We are very flexible about precisely how much of the 3 months is spent in Swansea/the studio due to people having difficulties travelling long distances to Swansea and other commitments and would welcome an indication of this in your proposal.
Please be aware that Elysium gallery can help with finding accommodation but due to budget restraints applicants to this programme need to source additional funds if spending over the residency/exhibition payments.
Apply: Proposals are welcome from artists of all disciplines.
Deadline for application is 5th September 2016.
Application by email should include a proposal of how you would use the opportunity (1000 words max) describing your practice, your aims and objectives, with up to 6 JPEG images, CV, contact details and website links.
A shortlist of 10 applicants will be selected by elysiumgallery and the final two artists will be chosen by the team of mentors
