Artist-run community art space and artists residency MITCH Collective has a unique and immediate opportunity for an artist interested in non profit work and bringing art to a Rustbelt community in the Ohio River Valley.
Overseen by artist-director and co-founder Siena Baldi, MITCH Collective is a non profit organization offering residencies to artists, writers, and musicians.
We currently have a live-work space available for an artist interested in sharing in the operational costs and actively participating in helping to realize MITCH Collective's residency and related programs and events. The ideal candidate will be a working artist or writer who will share in the communal duties of life at MITCH, help facilitate our residency program, workshops, other events, with potential to transition into becoming the director.
Situated within a 100 year old house atop a hill, the selected applicant will share in the rent and participate in organizational planning. The private one bedroom apartment rent is $500 per month plus gas and electric utilities. It includes a partially furnished bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom, shower, wifi, and use of common areas and facilities. Facilities include printing press, letterpress, lots of type, screen printing, book press, paper guillotine, sewing machines, long arm quilting machine, and stained glass. Martins Ferry is a small town full of history and geographic beauty located across the river from Wheeling, WV and one hour southwest of Pittsburgh, PA.
We need an independent, ambitious and highly motivated individual that believes in the transformative power of art and the gift of vulnerability that residencies provide.
If this sounds like an opportunity you wish to explore, please contact MITCH Collective directly at
[email protected]
The apartment will be available by March 1, possibly sooner.
