GIPCA'S LIVE ART FESTIVAL & SYMPOSIUM, Cape Town.
Call for Live Art Interventions and Papers
Deadline: 22 April, 2016

The Gordon Institute for Performing and Creative Arts (GIPCA) invites proposals for artworks and papers for GIPCA's Live Art Festival & Symposium, end of November/beginning December 2016.
Live Art is a broad term that has come to encompass performance art, visual art installations, experimental theatre and dance. It is also useful to think of live art as time-based art that exists on the fringes of visual and performing art practice. Initiated in 2012, GIPCA's Live Art Festival is a biennial event based in Cape Town, South Africa. Profiling established as well as emerging performance artists, the Festival showcases innovative and transgressive art works - in both content and form. Promoting a robust and meaningful discourse around live art, GIPCA will introduce a discussion component to the 2016 Festival - the Live Art Festival Symposium. A wide range of speakers are invited to present papers on issues and themes either directly or indirectly related to live art.
The Festival & Symposium will play out in a variety of public and formal spaces in Cape Town.
