Proposals for New Media technologies, Socially Engaged Works, and Performance art

Seed Space is growing! We are moving to a bigger space and expanding our programming. In addition to our ongoing call for performance art and temporary art and technology exhibitions, we invite artists and creative leaders to propose socially engaged projects that extend beyond Seed Space walls.

SSA+T proposals should:
Incorporate new media technologies
Be temporary, site specific, visually and conceptually interesting
WHAT WE GIVE:
100 sq ft. exhibition space
$250 stipend to artists living 300 miles from Nashville
Seed Space opening reception
Publicity for your project to national list of artists, critics, curators and collectors
Exhibition brochure with images and critical text
WHAT YOU GIVE:
Visually and conceptually interesting exhibition that makes use of technology
Travel to SS to install
Give short talk about work and ideas
WHAT TO SUBMIT:
One page proposal including a possible project title and image.

Seed Social
Socially Engaged Works
SS+S proposals should:
Engage the public
Address a social challenge
Result in object/exhibition
Be visually and conceptually interesting
WHAT WE GIVE:
100 sq ft. work/exhibition space
Access to 10,000 sq. ft event space
Project facilitation, i.e. community introduction (potential collaborators and partner organizations), access to public venues and project assistance.
Publicity for your project to national list of artists, critics, curators and collectors
Exhibition brochure with images and critical text
WHAT YOU GIVE:
Significant experience with and for the public.
Conduct a workshop while at Seed Space. The workshop does not need to be included in the proposal.
WHAT TO SUBMIT:
One page proposal including a possible project title, image, proposed social investigation/action, an indication of potential partners, and a desired time frame

Seed Performs
Performance Art
SS+P proposals should:
Be visually and conceptually interesting.
Plan for performances to occur during SS openings and therefore be no more than 3 hours in length.
WHAT WE GIVE:
Either a 1500 or a 10,000 sq. ft performance space
Dedicated, publicized performance time during SS opening, coinciding with the Wedgewood Houston Art + Music Crawl
Publicity for your project to national list of artists, critics, curators and collectors
Exhibition brochure with images and critical text
WHAT YOU GIVE:
Visually and conceptually interesting performance work
WHAT TO SUBMIT:
One page proposal including a possible project title and image.

Seed Space is located at 427 Chestnut Street, Nashville, 37203. We will open in a new location in the Wedgewood Houston neighborhood in 2014. We are open Mondays and Wednesdays 10am-2pm and by appointment.
