Franchise Proposal Winner 2013-14 Heterotopia, organized by crystal am nelson in Marfa, Texas
The apexart Franchise Program open call will accept proposals for idea-based, group exhibitions from February 15 to March 15, 2014. Three winning proposals will receive funding and administrative support from apexart to present their show in any location outside of New York City.
Now in its 6th year, the Franchise Program is open to anyone, from any background, anywhere in the world. One of apexart's two curatorial open calls, the Franchise asks for submissions for exhibitions that examine a specific idea or theme. Exhibitions can be about anything that the organizer finds compelling and can take place anywhere other than NYC. The most successful proposals are those that explore an idea that is integral to the country in which you wish to present. Past shows have explored construction in Mexico City, community in Memphis, and translation in Kampala. The Franchise is an opportunity to help bring a compelling idea to fruition and to illustrate that the center of the world is wherever you are. Please note that apexart is not a funding organization and exhibitions are part of apexart's regular programming.
The three winning exhibitions will be presented in apexart's 2014-15 season.
Proposals are accepted online at apexart.org/franchise.php from February 15 - March 15, 2014. You may also visit this page for FAQs and other guideline details.
