WHERE: Stonehouse, Plymouth, UK
WHEN: 22 September – 30 October 2011

BRIEF OUTLINE:
VESSEL is pleased to announce an open call for sited works for an exhibition space in a large disused industrial building in Plymouth. Within the fabric of the building we are looking to facilitate a group show of experimental and innovative work, encouraging artists to expose and deliver new avenues in contemporary arts practice. We are interested in work that critically interrogates the situation that is post-industrial, a set of conditions in time and place - a convergence of site, non-site, locality, context and time. Encouraged are submissions of a site-specific / site-responsive nature, taking into account the site's physical surroundings, historical reference or geographical location. Both new proposals or adapted existing work will be selected.
Housed in over 6000sqft of exhibition space, VESSEL will coincide with the British Art Show 7 and will run alongside other contemporary art events in the city.
DEADLINE: Monday August 22th 2011
