Artists' Residencies for Visual Artists and Writers, Ox-Bow, MI
Deadline : March 20, 2009.
Artists' Residencies for Visual Artists and Writers One and two-week residencies from June 7-August 22, 2009
Ox-Bow is a 99-year old school of art and artists' residency, located in Saugatuck, MI and affiliated with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Ox-Bow offers one and two week residencies for emerging and professional artists from June-August, alongside a rigorous academic and studio program. We offer one and two-week intensives for graduate and undergraduate students in a variety of studio areas-- from the experimental to the traditional or the craft-based. Ox-Bow curates a community of engaged makers and thinkers to offer its artists the opportunity to re-imagine their own studio practice, whether through a residency on campus, an exploration of a new material, through a unique one-on-one relationship with faculty members, or through a commitment to experimentation that is fostered by the safe community and environment on campus.
In 2009, Ox-Bow's role is to challenge how we view the definitions of art, craft, viewer, participant, and artist. Artists in residence, while unable to use formal classroom studios, can take advantage of the dynamic and energetic community.
