Involving Violence - Group Show, 33 Art Center, Baltimore, MD
CALL FOR ENTRIES: Looking for Baltimore and Mid-Atlantic Region artists
Deadline: November 1, 2008
Call for Work:
How do artists attempt to negotiate contemporary, historical, and personally violent events? How do they respond to violence in their neighborhood or around the world?
We are looking for artists whose work addresses the issues surrounding violence, pain, aggression, and everything in between.
All mediums welcome. Involving Violence is a group exhibition scheduled to open February 2009 at School 33 Art Center, Baltimore, MD.
It will include art from Chicago and the Mid-West region juxtaposed with art from Baltimore and the Mid-Atlantic region to explore the commonalities between cities and regions regarding violence.
This show is curated by Karin Patzke and Carrie Ruckel from Chicago.
Deadline: November 1, 2008
Involving Violence was originally exhibited at Lasso Gallery at the Butcher Shop in Chicago, September of 2007. It included 14 artists, mostly from Chicago and surrounding areas, who were exploring ideas of violence in their own work.
For the exhibition at School 33, we have decided to include some artists from the Chicago show but will also include artists from Baltimore or Mid-Atlantic areas in the show.
