WINTER SUN WRITERS’ RESIDENCY PROGRAMME
Joya: arte + ecología is a socially and environmentally engaged artist and writers’ residency in the heart of rural Andalucía, Spain. We are a community of engaged creatives, scientists and activists who believe that close research manifesting artistic visions is vital to the sustenance of culture. We are seeking dedicated writers whose work engages a discourse with the environment, place, sustainability, or the changing of our climate. Joya: arte + ecología is situated in an alpine desert with surrounding trees of almond and pine. This is one of the sunniest regions of Europe, receiving over 3,000 hours of sunlight a year. Daytime winter temperatures are warm, and evenings are starry and serene. The Joya: arte + ecología Writers’ Residency Programme is a new initiative developed to nurture all genres of writers, emerging or established, who show diligence, craft, enthusiasm and vision in their work. The deadline for applicants is November 18th, and you will be notified within ten days. We will be offering 10 writer’s residencies for the 2016/17 winter season.
Residency period:
The length of the residency would be 1 to 4 weeks within the period 1st December 2016 - 25th March 2017
Conditions:
The Joya: arte + ecología writers residency has a subsidised fee of €300 per week + tax (10%). This covers the cost of accommodation, wood for heating, water and all meals. It also includes collection from our nearest transport hub, Vélez Rubio.
