CDAN RESEARCH GRANTS
Deadline: September 20th 2010
Purpose of the grants
Fundación Beulas, through the CDAN, is launching in 2010 its first research grants, for the purpose of promoting studies of the theoretical aspects of landscape, encouraging drafting general projects that may pave the way for further studies.
The research projects that may be awarded this grant will address the generic theme of landscape, conceived in all its facets: artistic, aesthetic, historical, geographical, patrimonial, economical, territorial, biological, etc.
Participants
The grant is intended for individual researchers, from the European Union and Latin American countries, who demonstrate their experience, such as doctoral professors, though it is not necessary that they be attached to a university.
Monetary grant
This grant consists of 15,000 euros. This amount will be received in three instalments: the first (5000 euros), after the research project is approved, in October 2010; the second (5000 euros), six months later, following a favourable report from the tutor; and the third (5000 euros), upon delivery and approval of the final project.
Project submissions
A project summary must be submitted, including the objectives, methodology, and state of the matter, justification, bibliography and time-frames of the study. The summary must be no more than 10 pages long.
The final project must be completed within one year as of the day the jury's decision is made public. This time-frame may be extended to eighteen months if a justifying report is presented. Six months after the jury's decision a report containing the outline of the final project, as well as an explanation of the research method whereby this outline has been reached and the elements of which it consists, must be delivered to the CDAN.
The final project will be in the form of a text written in Spanish, consisting of no fewer than 150 and no more than 250 typed pages with one and a half spaces between lines. The writing must be in book form, for publication, and it must include footnotes and complete bibliographic references.
Jury
The Fundación Beulas will nominate a jury of eminently prestigious experts with research careers in the generic theme of landscape. This jury will study the submissions and choose the research projects to be awarded.
If they deem it appropriate, the jury may declare the grant void.
The jury's decision will be announced to the researchers selected, in writing (by letter, fax or e-mail), and it will also be published on the CDAN website as of October 10th 2010. Once official notification is received, the winner of the grant must communicate his or her acceptance of it in writing.
The projects must be tutored by a researcher, who will supervise and guide their undertaking. This tutor will be specifically designated for each project, according to its nature, by the CDAN, upon the jury's proposal, in order to guarantee the coherence of the methodological aspects, and the quality of the results.
Commitment to publication
Once the research has been concluded, the Fundación Beulas' Centro de Arte y Naturaleza will obtain the rights to it for a period not exceeding five years, and the CDAN may publish the study, entirely or partially, if it deems this opportune. Once this time has passed, if the CDAN has not published the research study, the author may publish it however he or she sees fit, yet acknowledging, in any case, that the project is the result of a grant from the CDAN of the Fundación Beulas. The CDAN must be given credit as a supporter in any of the studies published, and it must always receive at least two copies of these publications.
Documents and application
Candidates must submit the following documents:
a) Application to participate and express acceptance of the terms and conditions of the call.
b) Photocopy of ID, passport or nationality card
c) Curriculum vitae and academic credentials
d) Explanatory summary of the research project
All the documents must be written in Castilian Spanish.
Submissions that do not strictly follow these terms and conditions will not be accepted.

The foundation will not be held responsible for returning the projects. Participants who wish to retrieve their projects may do so at the CDAN within thirty days from the day the jury's decision is announced.
