City of Carouge Ceramics Competition

The City of Carouge (Geneva, Switzerland) organizes an open biennial competition in ceramics open to all creators. The City of Carouge 2011 Prize will be awarded in the amount of 10’000 Swiss francs (approximately 7’000€). Other awards include the Bruckner Foundation Prize for the Advancement of Ceramics in the amount of 2’000 Swiss francs (approximately 1’400€) and a prize awarded by the Swiss Ceramics Association of 1’000 Swiss francs (approximately 700€).
The subject of the 2011 competition is a box with its lid, the container may have various purposes and can be of different dimensions, the container and the lid must be part of the same set.
Competitors may present one entry each, of no more than one set, of which he or she must be the creator. The object must be an original and recently created work. The work must be in ceramics; the use of lava, cement or any other material is not acceptable.
The object may be incised, stamped, enamelled, engraved or painted.
In order to maintain anonymity, the object should bear no signature or distinctive mark.
The maximum dimension (length, width, height or diameter) of the object should not exceed 40 cm.
Collective work presented by two or more creators (ceramists and/or designers) is acceptable. This however, must be clearly stipulated on the application form, with the names of all the artists involved.
