Originally a way to encourage my granny to sit down and stop, I asked her to write for three minutes whenever she felt the need or want, with the knowledge that I would read every word and would be listening if she ever felt lonley or that there was no-one to speak with (my grandfather "Pops" had recently passed away). The project evolved to be a wide-reaching experiment to help combat loneliness and isolation within the elderly community. With the help of Age UK (formerly Help the Aged), the project engaged with around 50 elderly people around the world. All participants received a first edition book, so the writings became an interaction of sorts (by no means a perfect one, but an experiment and one all the same). All original letters are housed in a specially-made concertina hard-back folder (each participant with their own section). A selection of the letters from the project are available to purchase in oatmeal envelope book. Pack contains around 10, anonymous, hand-written letters received through the project from different participants around the world for 15.
