I obsessively collect objects and images that I am drawn to and have a resonance with me. They come from the past, marked, dented, scratched, musty, torn, ripped, discoloured and faded are all part of the history they carry with them. I see these imperfections as both scars of beauty and of sorrow.

I undo these objects and images and then reconstruct them; feeding them into each other and fusing them together creating a record of where I am and where I have been. Mostly the work is retrospective of a psychological state of mind or place I have been. The work exposes these states of mind and presents them as raw and surreal.

The work draws upon surrealist symbolism, folklore, fairytales and Greek mythology. I am fascinated by the female archetypes; the protector, destroyer, sexual, maternal, vulnerable, envious, animal and the masquerading. In many of the works these archetypal qualities lie next to each other unravelling paradoxes. The tensions between desire, loss, humour and the body are played out in these domestic hybrids. The materiality of the works echo and enforce these psychological qualities.
