My paintings are predominately concerned with creating tension between the background/foreground. The support is often patterned fabric which inherently carries meaning that relates to various themes such as taste.
The fabrics’ readymade aesthetic plays an important part in defining the direction of the painting and ultimately the images that I use. My decisions are based on finding chances happenings between the fabric and image.
I am interested in creating simple interventions that often obscures or intertwines the images into the surface of the painting. Each painting also has implications on the next one, this keeps the project fresh with an in-built element of chance.
