The Showroom is pleased to announce its relocation to 63 Penfold Street, London NW8.
The Showroom is marking 20 years as a publicly funded venue with ambitious new initiatives. Having outgrown our Bonner Road site, the gallery has recently relocated to a new space on Penfold Street in West London, close to Lisson Gallery, Edgware Road and Church Street Market.
The 2,800 square foot building is being reconfigured by Berlin-based architects ifau + Jesko Fezer in collaboration with London’s Working Architecture Group to provide a dynamic flexible space. While continuing to focus on artist commissions, the new space gives The Showroom the possibility to broaden its programme to include seminars, discussions, events and the opportunity to realise a new outreach programme aimed at young people in one of the UK’s most disadvantaged communities.
The new space will open in September with A Long Time Between Suns, part two of the first London solo exhibition by the Otolith Group (London-based artists Kodwo Eshun and Anjalika Sagar), organised in collaboration with Gasworks. Leading up to our reopening The Showroom will continue to programme interim events, including an ongoing series of seminars with Afterall journal, and the launch of the new issue of the journal F.R. David.
The Showroom has been generously supported by Sir Terry Farrell, Arts Council England, Outset, Wendy Fisher, and Baker McKenzie.
