ABOUT THE GALLERY
Hauser & Wirth Zürich was founded in 1992 by its principals Ursula Hauser, Manuela Wirth and Iwan Wirth. In addition to representing over 30 established and emerging contemporary artists, the gallery works closely with the estates of Eva Hesse, Allan Kaprow, Lee Lozano, Jason Rhoades, and Andre Thompkins. The publishing partnership Hauser & Wirth Steidl creates vital and diverse monographs and show-specific titles in collaboration with the artists.
Since 1996, Hauser & Wirth Zürich has been located in the former Löwenbräu brewery building, along with other contemporary art galleries, the Kunsthalle Zürich and the Migros Museum. In 2003, Hauser & Wirth London opened on Piccadilly in an historic building designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, its unique exhibition spaces adding weight to London’s growing importance as an international art centre.
In Autumn 2006, Hauser & Wirth formed a partnership with leading old master dealer Colnaghi at their premises on Old Bond Street. Hauser & Wirth at Colnaghi hosts several annual exhibitions and is the gallery’s secondary market operation in London.
Zwirner & Wirth opened in 2000 on New York’s East 69th Street. Embodying the gallery’s strong relationship with New York dealer David Zwirner, it exhibits modern and contemporary masters.
