| ABOUT Named after its street address, 100 Tonson Gallery is housed within a private residence and has a total floor space of 100 sq.m. Known for its prime location and well-designed space, the gallery has a box-like structure of concretized flooring and walls, with an interior that offers glass panels at the entrance and a high ceiling with skylights allowing the space to always enjoy a friendly and uninterrupted natural atmosphere. Among the forefront of the private art spaces in Bangkok, main mission for the gallery is to push the potential of contemporary art and capture the current directions of the rapidly developing visual culture. Organizing 4-6 exhibitions annually, and offering a combination of various exhibitions including curated show, solo or group exhibitions by established and emerging Thai artists, as well as foreign artists. At 100 Tonson Gallery, virtue is key. There are no artistic boundaries as to the kind of art works the gallery intends to show. For each art creation has its own merits. Works on display here can range from painting, sculpture, photography, installations, to new media and conceptual-based art. 100 Tonson Gallery has made a vital contribution to the local contemporary art scene in initiating greater participations and creating a better awareness between the artists and the general public. 100 Tonson Gallery also makes contribution to the society through its participation in the charity works. Donation is made annually. Thanks to sponsors, patrons and artists, in 2004, a lump sum of donation was presented to the Friends for All Children Foundation, a well-run orphanage in Thailand. As an ongoing commitment of 100 Tonson Gallery, part of the proceeds from all exhibitions will go towards various charity organizations. Centrally located in the embassies, hotels and business districts, the gallery welcomes several visitors a day, four days a week (Thursday-Sunday, 11 am- 7 pm). |
