Torrance Art Museum is pleased to present this second incarnation of the Zoom series: ZOOM 2. For three consecutive Saturdays, beginning on June 26, the entire museum will be host to experimental sound installations, performance works, and light/video projects.
Saturday, June 26, 12-5pm � VOLUME presents Presence VOLUME is pleased to present Presence, an afternoon of immersive sound, video, and durational performance. Presence plays with the multiple meanings of the title to contextualize divergent practices by a unique selection of artists all working across a spectrum of time based media, whether it is video, sound, durational performance, or installation. There will be a collection of gestures, words spoken, interplay of light and sound, moments of silence, focus, transgressions, layered meanings and experiences, noises, the sound of breathing and bodies performing tasks, a deeper awareness of the passage of time.

Saturday July 3, 12-5pm � featuring FLOOD Five sound and media artists from Los Angeles and Orange County will collaborate on a five hour performance that explores the concepts of transition, interaction and improvisation. Incorporating both electronic and conventional instruments, light projections, and movement, the program will feature new works by phog masheen, Eric Strauss, and Jose Juarez, Aaron Moreno, bumble head, and wet mango of Devine Brick Research Project.
Compositions will be presented as a continuous stream of interconnected events that will transform the Torrance Art Museum into a cooperative sound/media installation and minimal conceptual circus. This performance exhibition will be curated by the Long Beach group FLOOD who produces and curates SoundWalk, a one-night multi-media event dedicated to sound art.
