NEW WORK FROM SPAIN AND THE NETHERLANDS

IBERArt Painting Prize 2013 (Spain) and Painting of the Year Prize 2012 (Holland)
This exhibition brings together the work of twelve artists from Spain and twelve from the Netherlands, all of whom were shortlisted for a painting prize in their own country.
Following separate exhibitions of the finalists in Spain and Holland, the Griffin Gallery offered to host a joint exhibition in London so that the artwork could be presented as an international platform for emerging artists and newly discovered talent.

The IBERArt painting competition for emerging and professional artists in Spain took place during November and December of 2012. There were four different categories: Printmaking, Drawing, Watercolour and Mixed Media.

The prize was organized by:

- ABC (www.abc.es): one of the top media groups in Spain. A specialist in cultural stories, well known because of their independence. They have their own museum (Museo ABC) with one of the best drawing collections in Europe (including Miró, Picasso, etc.)

- Bellas Artes Miranda (www.artemiranda.es): one of the best known Fine Art specialist retailers in Spain, they have been an intrinsic part of Spanish art life since 1922.
- ColArt Ibérica, S.A. (www.colart.com)

More than 1,200 artworks, from around 700 Spanish artists, were entered into the contest. The winning artworks from each category will travel to London to be exhibited at the Griffin Gallery, as part of its commitment to young and emerging artists across Europe.
