I PUT IT THERE YOU NAME IT RAMIN AND ROKNI HAERIZADEH AND HESAM RAHMANIAN 18 MARCH – 17 MAY 2012 Gallery Isabelle van den Eynde is delighted to invite you to ‘I Put It There, You Name It.’ For this exhibition, Ramin Haerizadeh, Rokni Haerizadeh and Hesam Rahmanian, in a departure from the formalized structures associated with the presentation of contemporary art, will transpose the ambience they share in their Dubai house, studio and garden to the gallery. Ordinary, functional and art objects mingle in improbable assemblages, blurring the boundaries between production and authorship, art and its interplay with its surroundings. The trio creates a fascinating environment that reveals a culture of accumulation through which intriguing meetings and narratives emerge candidly. We seek, in this extract of their lives, to interact with the works as the artists do, defining and redefining according to our desires. The functions of the gallery space – exhibiting specific works, of specific values, with specific intentions – are nullified now. The Haerizadeh brothers, exiled since 2009, have been working on individual and collaborative projects for many years, previously in Tehran and now in Dubai. Hesam Rahmanian, a childhood friend of the brothers, left Iran to study in the USA before joining them here in Dubai. This exhibition is born, and presents a natural depiction, of the trio’s collective existence since their reunion. Each of the three artists continues to work on individual projects, driven by deeply personal obsessions and cultures. ‘I Put It There You Name It’ is the space, both abstract and literal, in which these three fiercely individual and motivated artists meet. Writer and curator Vali Mahlouji has collaborated with a text as part of the exhibition: ‘An assemblage of Dostoyevsky, Koulenis, Maeterlinck, Pamuk, Szymborska and myself‘, 2012.
