(please scroll down for text in English) NOGLE ARBEJDER FRA HALVFJERDSERNE (Some works from the seventies) KIRSTEN JUSTESEN LENE ADLER PETERSEN SUSANNE USSING (1940-1998) Curated by Kirsten Justesen Opening: 24.09.2010 at 5-8 PM Duration: 24.09. � 23.10.2010 Kirsten Justesen, Lene Adler Petersen og nu afd�de Susanne Ussing krydsede hinandens spor p� skels�ttende udstillinger og i f�llesv�rker op gennem 1970erne. Med hver sin tilgang har de tre kunstnere vist sig dagsordens�ttende, og deres heftige eksperimenter og udsagn har dannet grundlag for meget politisk kunst og i s�rdeleshed k�nspolitisk kunst i perioden. Det er med respekt, mod og gl�de, at Galleri Tom Christoffersen byder velkommen til udstillingen NOGLE ARBEJDER FRA HALVFJERDSERNE. Alle v�rker p� udstillingen er udarbejdet i halvfjerdserne eller med et reelt afs�t i perioden. S�ledes er s�tninger skrevet ned p� tilf�ldige lapper papir under Lene Adler Petersens daglige gang p� Eks-Skolens Trykkeri i 1974 nu typograferet i blysats; en s�tning pr. ark med udsagn som: "EN DAG TOG JEG BRYSTERNE I EGEN H�ND�. Alle Kirsten Justesens arbejder er fra dengang atelieret l� mellem barnev�relset og k�kkenet. En situation konkretiseret i eksempelvis et antal gennemsigtige gravide maver, der rummer sk�ve forestillinger om kropsudvidelsens muligheder. Susanne Ussings stedsspecifikke v�rk �I Drivhuset� blev realiseret i 1980 og var en gigantisk kn�lende kvindefigur i granit og por�se materialer, installeret til bristepunktet i drivhuset i Ordrupgaards park. P� gruppeudstillingen pr�senteres forarbejder til v�rket og fotograf isk dokumentation af dette ikon. Ovenfor n�vnte arbejder h�rer til de mest eksplicitte, men der hersker ingen tvivl om, at p� NOGLE ARBEJDER FRA HALVFJERDSERNE m�des forskellige sf�rer i et �nske om, at det personligt erfarede g�r i dialog med politiske idealer. I processen bag v�rkerne er hverdag og det private en central del af den optik, som resulterer i collager, skitser, fotografier, malerier, installationer, samarbejder og performances fra et nyt st�sted. Galleri Tom Christoffersen �nsker at takke Kirsten Justesen for at kuratere NOGLE ARBEJDER FRA HALVFJERDSERNE samt takke Carsten Hoff for at stille Susanne Ussings arbejder til r�dighed for udstillingen. (Press release in English) Kirsten Justesen, Lene Adler Petersen and the late Susanne Ussing crossed each other�s track on seminal exhibitions and in collaborative works during the 1970ties. With their individual approach, the three artists set an agenda and their intense experimentation and statements formed the basis for much political art, and particularly feminist art in the period. It is with respect, courage and joy that Galleri Tom Christoffersen presents the exhibition SOME WORKS FROM SEVENTIES (Nogle arbejder fra halvfjerdserne). All works in the exhibition are done in the seventies or with an impetus in the period. Thus phrases scribbled on random pieces of paper during Lene Adler Petersen's daily work at Eks-Skolens Trykkeri in 1974 are now set with lead composition; one phrase per sheet with statements like: �EN DAG TOG JEG BRYSTERNE I EGEN H�ND� ("One day I took both breasts into my own hands"). All Kirsten Justesen's works are from the time the studio was between nursery and kitchen, a situation materialized in several pregnant bellies in transparent material, which contains quirky ideas about the opportunities of this body expansion. Susanne Ussing�s site-specific work, �I Drivhuset" (in the Greenhouse), was realized in 1980. It was a giant kneeling female figure in granite and porous materials, installed to the breaking point of the greenhouse situated in the park of Ordrupgaard. Sketches and photographic documentation of this important and tempo rary installation are presented at the group exhibition. The works mentioned above are among the most explicit, but there is no doubt that at SOME WORKS FROM THE SEVENTIES various spheres merge in the desire to see the personally experienced in dialogue with political ideals. In the process leading to the final works the everyday life and privacy are important components. With this alternative gaze collages, sketches, photographs, paintings, installations collaborative works and performances both formed and was formed from a new standpoint.
