A segunda exposi��o individual de Maria Condado na galeria mostra um conjunto de pinturas recentes que nos introduzem a outras marca��es do seu trabalho. Para al�m da quest�o da dimens�o f�sica das telas, visivelmente maiores, a deliberada amplia��o representacional ganha novas margens colocando o desafio da escala que, muito embora, se torna um ponto de questionamento volunt�rio nestas obras. Quer atrav�s do sentido metaf�rico ou concreto, Jardim Bot�nico � um lugar onde a diversidade encontra o espa�o desejado para construir e revelar-se, para constituir afirma��es acerca das potencialidades da pintura. S�o paisagens-retratos que reflectem uma busca pessoal e intimista do processo criativo, bem como expressam a descoberta da necessidade eminente de quebra com alguma rigidez t�cnica da perspectiva transportando-nos, assim, para imagens mais bidimensionais, potenciadoras tamb�m de outras ilus�es. A obra de Maria Condado tem seguido uma abordagem de pesquisa e experimenta��o art�stica onde a constru��o de cen�rios (paisagens e retratos) se rege pela simbiose entre natureza e artificialidade. �, nesse registo, que as atmosferas exploradas evoluem para o sistema de conjuga��o e conviv�ncia entre, ora a aus�ncia de elementos, ou a sua �ltima profus�o. Gera-se, portanto, a proposta de um �limbo pict�rico� entre a import�ncia da linha/forma e a cor, sem desobedecer no entanto � organiza��o de conte�dos que uma certa abstrac��o poderia porventura incentivar. A artista apresenta uma combina��o entre duas fases pict�ricas que, em todo o caso, algo se diferenciam das pinturas expostas anteriormente: por um lado, surgem paisagens com a pontua��o de personagens identificadas como retratos; por outro lado, paisagens onde a aridez e a ru�na outrora proeminentes se desenvolveram na representa��o mais densa da natureza, e cujo cariz ornamental e pormenorizado lhe confere agora um estado de rejuvenescimento e de (re)encontro com o presente. Maria Condado (Lisboa, 1981) formou-se em Pintura pela FBAUL em 2004. Jardim Bot�nico � a sua segunda exposi��o individual na galeria Caroline Pag�s. Entre outras exposi��es colectivas (Pavilh�o de Portugal, Hangart-7, Salzburgo, �ustria, 2009; Vest�gio, Hospital J�lio de Matos, 2008; Superf�cies de Contacto, Centro de Arte de S�o Jo�o da Madeira, 2008), foi nomeada para o Pr�mio Anteciparte em 2006 (Lisboa) e para o Pr�mio de Pintura Ariane de Rothschild em 2005 (Lisboa). O seu trabalho foi mostrado recentemente no Museu de Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso em Amarante, no contexto da exposi��o Jeune Cr�ation Europ�enne, uma Bienal itinerante de Arte Contempor�nea exibida em Fran�a, Litu�nia, �ustria, It�lia, Espanha e Portugal. Apart from the question of the physical size of the canvasses, which are visibly bigger, the deliberate enlargement of representational forms gains new dimensions, creating the challenge of scale that becomes a point of voluntary questioning in these works. Both in a metaphorical and concrete sense, Jardim Bot�nico is a place where diversity meets the desired space to build and be revealed, to become statements about paintings. These are portrayals of landscapes that reflect a personal and intimate search for the creative process, as well as expressing the discovery of the eminent need for a break from a certain technical rigidity of perspective, thus transporting us to more two-dimensional images which facilitate other illusions. Maria Condado�s work has followed an approach based on artistic experimentation and research where the construction of scenarios (landscape and portraits) is governed by the symbiosis between nature and the artificial. It is in these terms that the atmospheres explored evolve towards the system of conjugation and coexistence between the absence of elements or their profusion. Thus, the proposal of a �pictorial limbo� is created between the importance of line/form and colour, without disregarding the organisation of content that a certain abstraction could eventually encourage. The artist presents a combination between two pictorial phases which are differentiated from the previously exhibited paintings: on the one hand, there are landscapes with the appearance of characters identified as portraits; on the other, landscapes where the prominent aridity and ruin of times past were developed in the densest representation of nature, and whose ornamental and detailed character now lend it a state of rejuvenation and of an encounter (or re-encounter) with the present. Maria Condado (Lisbon 1981) graduated in painting from the Lisbon School of Fine Arts in 2004. Jardim Bot�nico is her second individual exhibition at the Caroline Pag�s Gallery. Among many other collective exhibitions (Pavilh�o de Portugal, Hangar-7, Salzburg, Austria, 2009; Vest�gio, J�lio de Matos Hospital, Lisbon, 2008; Superf�cies de Contacto, S�o Jo�o da Madeira Art Centre, Portugal, 2008), she was shortlisted for the Anteciparte Prize in 2006 (Lisbon) and the Ariane de Rothschild Painting Prize in 2005 (Lisbon). Recently her work was exhibited at the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Museum in Amarante (Portugal) as part of the Jeune Cr�ation Europ�enne, a travelling Contemporary Art Biennial presented in France, Lithuania, Austria, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Her work has integrated the PLMJ Foundation Collection in Lisbon as well as many private collections in Portugal, France and Austria.
