CLARE PRICE and HOWARD DYKE Parrot Halva 23 April 2 May 2010 Private view: Thursday 22nd April 6 - 9pm Though partners Howard Dyke and Clare Price have coincidentally appeared together in group shows, this is the first time they have been given the opportunity to exhibit on their own; their work reflecting upon and reacting to each other's practice. Both abstract painters in a very loosely expressionist manner, they nevertheless work quite differently - in Price's case using an overload of drips and forced error to rescue gesture from the apparently cold 'process' of the computer-generated imagery; while Dyke accumulates a collage of heterogeneous materials in a conceptual quilting that is almost blindly physical, dissolving any image or meaning the fragments might separately have had. Together they will be presenting work that might be considered two (of many) faces of the abstract coin. Heads or Tails?
