Nicolas Ledoux P. Nicolas Ledoux is back at the Magda Danysz Gallery for his most important individual exhibition yet which emphasized the diversity of his talents and the deepness of his thoughts. For this exhibition, P. Nicolas Ledoux is showing black ink, very precise and detailed drawings, but also paintings he had painted, videos and installations. P. Nicolas Ledoux is a complex artist, and his graphic skills live up to that. In a duel with History and art history, his works provide material for criticism that can be simple or complex, depending on who is looking at them. His drawings are double-edged. They�re pretty, harmonious, even trendy, but in fact they�re deep creations which question the practise of contemporary art and the limits of painting. Christophe Le Gac says about Ledoux, � few art critics have tried to analyse his work, for it is too critical of criticism. � P. Nicolas Ledoux is a drawing art critic himself. He is first and foremost an intellectual, he multiplies references in order to divert them. The act of painting or drawing is an everyday pleasure to him, � as much as reading the paper or composing music �. His works, beyond the plastic aspect, are essentially conceptual. P. Nicolas Ledoux borrows the idea from conceptual art that the definition of art lies in artistic practise. As a member of the Ultralab group, which recently exposed at the Jeu de Paume Museum, P. Nicolas Ledoux showed his work in numerous galleries in France and abroad, in England, Australia and in the United States. This year the French National Fund for Contemporary Art acquired a very large drawing of his. This exhibition at the Magda Danysz gallery is the occasion to spend some time on the constructed reflexion of an artist who is still growing in contemporary art. P. Nicolas Ledoux Retrouvez P. Nicolas Ledoux � la galerie Magda Danysz, pour une importante exposition individuelle qui prouve la diversit� de ses talents et la profondeur de son propos. Pour cette exposition P. Nicolas Ledoux propose des dessins, � l'encre noire, pr�cis, d�taill�s, mais aussi des peintures, qu'il fait peindre, des vid�os ou encore des installations. P. Nicolas Ledoux est un artiste complexe au propos graphique touffu. Dans un face � face avec l'Histoire et l'histoire de l'art ses �uvres nourrissent un propos critique � la fois simple et complexe hselon qui les regarde. Le dessins de P. Nicolas Ledoux sont � double tranchant. Ils sont jolis, armonieux, branch�s m�me, mais il s'agit en fait de cr�ations profondes qui questionnent la pratique de l'art contemporain et les limites de la peinture. L'artiste utilise lui-m�me le propos du critique d'art par lequel il red�finit l'�uvre d'art. Christophe Le Gac �crit d'ailleurs : " peu de critiques d'art se sont essay�s � analyser son �uvre car trop critique envers la critique. " P. Nicolas Ledoux f ait de la critique d'art en dessin, en peinture ou encore en vid�o. P. Nicolas Ledoux est un intellectuel avant tout, il multiplie les r�f�rences savantes pour mieux les d�tourner. L'acte de peindre ou dessiner existe pour lui en tant que plaisir du quotidien " au m�me titre que de lire le journal ou composer des compilations musicales. " Ses �uvres, au-del� de toute consid�ration plastique sont essentiellement conceptuelles. P. Nicolas Ledoux emprunte � l'art conceptuel l'id�e que c'est dans la pratique artistique qu'est la d�finition de l'art. Membre du collectif Ultralab qui a r�cemment expos� au Mus�e du Jeu de Paume, P. Nicolas Ledoux a expos� dans de nombreuses galeries en France et � l'�tranger, en Angleterre, en Australie ou encore aux Etats-Unis. Cette ann�e le Fonds National d'Art Contemporain a fait l'acquisition d'un diptyque monumental de l'artiste. Cette exposition � la galerie Magda Danysz est l'occasion de revenir sur la r�flexion toujours plus construite d'un artiste qui ne cesse de grandir dans l'art contemporain. |
