Cutting Edge Technology at Your Fingertips at Belfasts first ever ISEA Exhibition

ISEA2009: The Exhibition accompanies the 15th annual International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) hosted by the University of Ulster. The exhibition addresses contested spaces, focusing on the environment, political and economic conflicts and the human body. Curated by Kathy Rae Huffman, it will display an exciting range of innovative and challenging work at the interface of art, science, communication and technology.

The symposium aims to unite the two disciplines of art and science and the exhibition, across three venues; Ormeau Baths, Golden Thread and Foyer Gallery, questions our perception of what is art and what is technology. Is an online, virtual reality game art? If a second life experience is created by an artist is the result art or science? Come along and decide for yourself. All of the exhibitions are free, inter-active and many of the pieces can be enjoyed by all age groups.

Notes to Editors
Ormeau Baths Gallery, Golden Thread Gallery and Foyer Gallery (University of Ulster) are co-realising one extended exhibition.

On Friday 7th August there will be a shuttle service provided by Golden Thread Gallery and Ormeau Baths Gallery to transport people to each exhibition.

Ormeau Baths interactive works includes Ants mixing records in Kuaishen Ausons piece Oh!1Mygas, a talkative machine in Alexa Wrights Conversation 3D interactive game by The Stealth Project.

Golden Thread will feature more than a dozen free to use computer based interactive works for audiences to explore and ponder, alongside challenging installation works by Ubermorgen, Ian Clothier and many more.
Do not miss this unique opportunity to experience for yourself the future of visual art

OBG is running a series of workshops and talks to compliment the exhibition: Curator of ISEA Kathy Rae Huffmans walk around tour, Belfasts C-13 Collective are creating a responsive installation at OBG during ISEA and the Scrapyard Challenge project at the Black Box invites you to get stuck in with making your own electronic projects from found junk.

The Golden Thread will be hosting a number of talks, discussions and events throughout the run of the exhibition check out the website for details.
