When I look at lace, I don't think of grandma. () Lace is an organized landscape, historically related to French formal gardening. I drag that into contemporary times: There is no wilderness, and people have to manage everything that was wild and natural. It's weird and has unsavory implications.

Eine Gruppe Models, gekleidet in Aerobicanzgen la Jane Fonda, zeigt, wie man als Lady auch in heiklen Situationen Haltung bewahrt. berspitzte Schauspielerei lehrt uns How to Behave when Meeting Jesus oder How to Get Off Easy when Pulled Over by the Cops.
Anfang 2011 prsentiert das Museum Deutsche Guggenheim neue Arbeiten von Agathe Snow in einer Einzelausstellung.

In his first exhibition at the Rdiger Schttle Gallery, the American painter Mark Flood will be showing works from his series of Lace Paintings. While the lace motif used to be no more than a background motif in his work, it now dominates all of Floods paintings. In much the same way as the English pioneer of photography, William Henry Fox Talbot, captured the folds and frayed edges of lace doilies and tablecloths on light-sensitive paper during the 1840s, Mark Flood has for some years been experimenting with lace imprints in oil on canvas. These fragmentary motifs awaken associations with coastlines and rivers or with billowing clouds of mist or steam. For Mark Flood, lace does not just evoke nostalgic memories of grandmothers time. When I look at lace, I don't think of grandma. () Lace is an organized landscape, historically related to French formal gardening. I drag that into contemporary times: There is no wilderness, and people have to manage everything that was wild and natural. It's weird and has unsavory implications. Mark Flood, born in 1957, lives and works in Houston, Texas.

On display in the showroom on the ground floor of the gallery are the works of two young artists.
The photographs of the Chinese artist Chen Wei, born in 1980, are staged depictions of dark, mysterious and disquieting interiors. The viewer is confronted by rooms that are always deserted, mostly doorless. They are nightmarish scenes that evoke feelings of anxiety, the kind of feelings that are inevitably accompanied by a racing pulse, breathlessness and claustrophobia. In A Rats Post Office, the anonymous writer of countless unsent letters seems to have escaped this nightmare. Chen Weis photographs are staged scenes of destruction and desecration, worlds from which their inhabitants have fled in desperation.
Chen Wei lives and works in Hangzhou, China. The presentation at the Rdiger Schttle Gallery is the first showing of his photographs in Germany.

The artist Agathe Snow, born in 1976, lives and works in New York. Although she became known through her performances take, for example, her legendary dance marathons and dinner parties for hundreds of people in New York Agathe Snow also works in other media. Her sculptural objects, for example, are apocalyptic installations fabricated from a multitude of artefacts gleaned from the flea markets of New York. At the Rdiger Schttle Gallery, Agathe Snow will be showing her film Total Workout Video, in which a troupe of models in Jane Fonda-style aerobic outfits show how ladies can keep their cool even in the most awkward of situations. Overacting to the extreme, they teach us How to Behave when Meeting Jesus or How to Get Off Easy when Pulled Over by the Cops.
At the beginning of 2011, the Deutsche Guggenheim will be mounting a solo exhibition of new works by Agathe Snow.
