Gallery One: Passages, a group exhibition curated by Zachari Logan. Gallery Two: Zachari Logan, Metamorphosis, a solo exhibition of drawings. Exhibition Dates: March 7 - April 27, 2013 Saturday, March 9th at 3pm: Curator and Artist's Talk Daniel Cooney Fine Art is proud to announce two new exhibitions. In Gallery One Passages, a group exhibition exploring literary references in visual art. Curated by Zachari Logan, this exhibition examines domesticity, gender, death and romance, joined by the thread of a textual origin. Passages features painting, drawing, sculpture and photographs, by artist's Joseph Anderson, Ross Bleckner, Justin Vivian Bond, Gina Dawson, Noam Gonick, Matthias Herrmann, Rob Matthews, Alison Norlen, Hermes Payrhuber, Benjy Russell & Rya Kleinpeter, and Julie Tremblay. Running concurrently in Gallery Two is a solo exhibition of drawings by Zachari Logan titled Metamorphosis. Partly a contemplation of Kafka's novel, Logan's drawings explore the transformation of self as a spectacle of the acceptance of one's otherness. In these exquisitely rendered drawings done in blue pencil on mylar, Logan mutates into various forms of flora and fauna creating images that are compelling and highly charged. Moving within a reflection on exclusion, these portraits also offer a visual meditation on the dynamics of altruism and the individual as described in the writings of Richard Dawkins. Logan lives and works in Saskatoon, Canada where he was born and raised. This February he was artist in residence at the Museums Quartier (MQ-21) in Vienna, in conjunction with their Museum of Contemporary Art (MUMOK). Logan has exhibited extensively throughout North America and Europe in solo and group exhibitions. He received his BFA (2004) and his MFA (2008) from the University of Saskatchewan.
