YOUNGER January 12 - February 25, 2012 Daniel Cooney Fine Art is very proud to announce Younger, an exhibition featuring five artists working with the theme of childhood anxiety. The exhibition consists of photographs, drawings, paintings and video by Christopher Bucklow, Christian Curiel, Zachari Logan, Rachelle Mozman and Tim Roda. Christopher Bucklow contributes a print with unique drawing elements titled All I Have Left Of You Is Me that addresses the passing of time and looking back at ones-self at a younger age. Christian Curiel's paintings are filled with rich, deep color that reflect his childhood spent in Miami, the child of Cuban immigrants. The paintings depict young boys that are isolated and vulnerable. Zachari Logan has made a pastel drawing especially for this exhibition titled Baroque Child. The large-scale drawing depicts the artist as a toddler with a sheep's head, surrounded by butterflies. This eerie image is based on Logan's childhood fear of transforming into a stuffed animal. This drawing could remind a viewer of Logan's recent Daphne drawings where the artist renders himself transformed into a tree. Rachelle Mozman contributes one photograph of a young boy in his lavish Central American home from her series titled Costa del Este. The boy lives in a gated community that divides the rich and poor in his country. He is protected and safe yet seems to be broken and filled with fear. Tim Roda's video and photographs are the only in the exhibition that address the father - son relationship. The artist creates tableaux's where he and his sons reenact memories from his own childhood. The work is fun yet potent as it explores the complexities of familial relationships.
