WAKE 11 Jun - 17 Jul 2011 A series of six mini-residencies featuring Anne Bean, William Cobbing, David Cotterrell, Carl Von Weiler, Rachel Lowe and Bronwen Buckeridge. WAKE (visible tracks of turbulence) interrogates materiality itself, as well as notions of ownership, of collective process and the transmission of ideas. Six artists will work in Dilston Grove sequentially in a series of week-long mini-residencies. At the end of each week the artists sculptural engagement with the space will culminate in a performance or installation that will be open to the public. Each artist chose the artist to succeed him or her and each will leave behind their materials and structures for the following artist to inherit and build upon. Picking up where the previous artist left off, each will respond to, recycle and add to what they find, gradually or radically transforming the space. The materials they use will become the binding force, the DNA, creating threads as well as layers, linking the artists who knowingly will inhabit each others past and future. 11/12 June: Anne Bean 18/19 June: William Cobbing 25/26 June: David Cottrell 02/03 July: Carl Von Weiler 09/10 July: Rachel Lowe 16/17 July: Bronwen Buckeridge Venue: Dilston Grove, Southwark Park, SE16 2DD Times: Saturday and Sunday 12pm 6pm WAKE and ARCHIPELAGO present a programme of installation and performance related work conceived and curated by London based artists Anne Bean and Gary Stevens.
