MELISSA GORDON 'Dirty Tricks of an Age of Moral Turpitude' 7.11.-13.12.2008 COSAR HMT presents from 7.11.-13.12.2008 'Dirty Tricks of an Age of Moral Turpitude', the second solo presentation by MELISSA GORDON (*1981). A new series of paintings and sculptural constructions which reference the contentious relationship between the First Amendment right of freedom of speech and obscenity debates in the USA are exhibited. Elements from newspapers, political cartoons, and advertising are used for works where moral, partisan, and carnival re-presentations co-exist. |
