100 Tonson Gallery cordially invite you to the opening reception of an project �A Leg Up Society" (Thai name: Chom Rom Kon Mai Ao Nai ) by Chatchai Puipia on September Saturday 20, 2008 at 6 pm. This is Puipia�s first exhibition in many years; it also is the first time that Puipia works in collaboration with other artists in the area of film, photography, sculpture, video and literature. Apart from sculpture installation that will transform the visual presentation of 100 Tonson Gallery in the next several months, the content or focus of the exhibitions may vary according to different inputs of the collaborative artists. The aim of the project is to raise funds as grants for artists and writers, either to enable them to create their artworks or sometimes producing/ presenting something that would impact art society on a larger scale. Viewers are welcome to visit the gallery to see A Leg Up Society in the next several months as usual (without entrance fee). For those who would like to be more involved, this project will be open to the public to apply for membership. Details about membership applications and benefits will be announced soon but the very least that the member would receive is the publication produced and edited by Puipia. NEWS September 20 � November 26, 2008 , Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook, Chatchai Puipia, Porntaweesak Rimsakul and Yuree Kensaku in "Traces of Siamese Smile: Art + Faith + Politics + Love", Bangkok Art and Culture Center. The exhibition, featuring 300 works including more than 100 Thai and international artists is Curated by Prof. Dr. Apinan Poshyananda. Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook, who recently received Silpatorn Award 2008 in Visual Art, launches her new video works �Two Planets Series� which is a follow up from her photo series. Chatchai Puipia presents his large sculptures �Better Than Ever: Pikaboo! Heard you are desperately seeking a leader around here� with collaborative video work by Shane Bunnag �The Shape of Things to Come� and also �Siamese Smile� Portrait painting. Porntaweesak Rimsakul plays with imagination through his past work titled �Conversation��. While Yuree Kensaku will display a successful piece selected from her solo show called � Love in Platinum Frame�, 2007. September 25 � October 25, 2008, Yuree Kensaku�s Solo Show at Gallery VER �Same Place While The Clock's Hands Pace�. This is story about a �House�, the exhibition explores the notions of home and memory. Kensaku uses household found objects and turns them into painting and sculptures, capturing the essence of memories past. September 6-November 15,2008 , Porntaweesak Rimsakul in Busan Biennale under the theme of 'Expenditure', Korea. Rimsakul exhibits � Pet� ,his whimsical piece taken from various shows which toys and investigates the themes of death and amusement. Merging the deadly act of smoking with enjoyment through the use of Mechanicalize wind-up cigarette packets. See his work at the Busan Museum of Modern Art. September 26 � November 30, 2008 Porntaweesak Rimsakul in Kuandu Biennale, Taipei �I Have a Dream� the theme of Biennale 2008, which is staging solo exhibitions by 10 Asian artists at the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts. Porntaweesak is the represented Thai Artist, shows his VDO works �RGB� and �The story of teapot�. September 27 � October 31, 2008 , Pichaya Khunnawat in �Basic & Instinct� Drawing Exhibition at Bangkok University Gallery, Bangkok After the artists well received solo exhibition at 100 Tonson Gallery and ShContemporary 07, Pichaya has been working on a new body of work. In this group show, curated by Ark Fongsmut, he presents his series titled �just...panic!� using gouache and acrylic on paper. |
