TEN YEARS AFTER 100 Tonson Gallery’s 10th Anniversary Exhibition curated by Rirkrit Tiravanija Started its first exhibition in 2003, 100 Tonson Gallery has been a front running Thai gallery in the world stage. The gallery has been listed among top 50 emerging galleries from around the world in 2007 by London-based Contemporary magazine and it has been the first and only Thai gallery admitted to the most prestigious artfair, ArtBasel Switzerland in 2011. That year, the gallery was also the only exhibitor from the Southeast Asian region. 100 Tonson Gallery is celebrating its 10th anniversary with special exhibitions throughout the past year with Prateep Suthathongthai (whose work is part of the current Singapore Biennale), Wit Pimkanchanapong and Ryusuke Kido, Pichet Klunchun's Unwrapping Culture performance, Yuree Kensaku’s latest sculptural paintings exhibitions and showcasing her animation and world-renowned Erwin Wurm’s first exhibition in the Southeast Asian region. So far, 100 Tonson Gallery has hosted 61 exhibitions and 84 artists in this space in Bangkok and many international exhibitions in museums as well as artfairs in Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Dubai and Basel, Switzerland. TEN YEARS AFTER, curated by Rirkrit Tiravanija will showcase the artwork in the past 10 years and this will be the finale for the 10th anniversary celebration series. How the conceptual artist/curator would put together various works and present them in a 100 sq.m. space of art gallery is very intriguing to many.
