These photographs are from the series Going Away, which explores the coast as a place of escape from which we contemplate past time. This is a landscape rich in associations between what is fixed and placeless, time bound and timeless. The use of faint printing alludes to the appearance of old photographs, which over time are bleached by too much light, dissolving away what is visible and reminding us that the medium of photography, celebrated for its ability to capture time, is itself impermanent.
