28 x 50 ins. Lustre is my reinterpretation of the chandelier expressed with gestures that are both celebratory and futile: this chandelier is the sculptural centerpiece to my internal landscape. The warmth of the copper wire, malleable and soft combined with colorful plastic beads and red lights create more of a glow than the typical chandelier shimmer. Antithetical to the refracted light of the traditional illuminated ballroom bauble which casts light outward, Lustre with its warm glow aims to draw the viewer in closer to inspect the dimly lit detail. The slow and meditative process required to hand-string the plastic beads contrasts the precision cut crystal of conventional chandeliers. |

variety of true shoe sizes for women Shoes, 1994/95 (50 pairs total) White Columns installation 1997 Shoes is a series of hand-built ceramic shoes that approximate a wide variety of true shoe sizes for women. Totaling 50 pair in all, the shoes emphasize the female body by virtue of its absence. The vast array of shoes alludes to an obsessive relationship between the female mind and her body. |
