Interior Painting III 90 x137 cm Acrylic

Primarily a painter. I am greatly inspired by many of the 20th century painters both figurative and abstract, such as Picasso and Jonathan Lasker. I have a background in interior design and a fascination with interior design magazines. I find humour and intrigue in the beautifully staged rooms with their seemingly co-ordinated artwork. My paintings play with these ideas.

My process for this body of work involves photographing rooms, sometimes of people I know sometimes not. Taking note of the space, the colours, the wider environment, photographing some of the prominent effects. Using Photoshop I manipulate the image and create one that I feel is most suitable as a painting to be hung in the people's room.

Once Painted, I have returned the paintings to the room and photographed it in situ. Perhaps as ridiculous as making a painting to be displayed in a white cube gallery space?
