From the potato print, to newspapers to the high-tech home-movie gadgets the print has always been the medium that is most adept to self-expression and widest distribution. Whoever you are, whether you are literate or not, you have at some point made a print. Khwezi's art alsoseeks to reawaken forms of popular media that have been forgotten by history, which is why he uses 8mm film (by scratching and drawing on the film) to create new narratives from old pre-existing footage. Khwezi sees his interventions as an artist as being inseperable from his writing and curatorial work because it comes from the same desire to make media, speech and creativity an everyday occurence for everyone.
