Jus Juchtmans’s monochromatic paintings are deceivingly complex. Each aspect of the luminescent work from the stretcher to the number of layers of paint upon the surface is considered in the piece’s creation. Juchtmans’s interest lies in the act of viewing artwork. Drawing people in through the shiny surfaces, Juchtmans’s work literally reflects how the surrounding environment colors one’s experience of viewing art. Juchtmans’s work has been recently exhibited at: Margaret Thatcher Projects, New York, NY; Galerie Lausberg, Dusselldorf, Germany; Galerie van Den Berges, Goes, Netherlands; Galeria Nieves Fernandez, Madrid, Spain. Work by the artist has also been placed in the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, CA; Karl Ernst Osthaus-Museum, Hagen, Germany; Peter Stuyvesant Collection, Amsterdam, Denmark among others. Living and working in Antwerp, Belgium, Juchtmans’s work has received much attention in art publications of Western Europe.
