Various books have been used as prompts; apparatus for drawing
Each image is the product of a pre-arranged method Image 1 – 4 Using my sketchbook as a source for redrawing The content of the book is my re-presentation (understanding) of research and ideas that the research inspired Importantly for the drive to re-present the content is the fact that none of the ideas were ever realised (or started) Each page of the source sketchbook is photocopied onto tracing paper The tracing paper photocopies are placed in the same order as the pages of the sketchbook Taking in order the first 3 tracing paper pages (#1, #2, #3), place together to create a composite page (made up of the 3 layers of pages) Flip over Re-draw the 3 layer composite pages onto A3 paper (an enlargement of the A6 book) Repeat the redrawing process this time taking away #1 and adding page #4 Keep the 3 pages composite pages reversedComplete the process for the whole book
Image 5 – 6 Drawing a reading list and making a book out of each listed book Image 7 Type A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking Complete the task with enthusiasm, but without a critical knowledge of quantum mechanics. (A translation from expert to novice has occurred however faithful the copy intended to be. Both homage and subversion) Draw the text
