My work analyzes attitudes, belief systems and individuals, whether heroes or villains. I position myself at once within contemporary culture and as something of an outside observer. Casting a critical eye over the dominant paradigms of culture, consumerism and mediocrity, I offer possible antidotes. I often use re-purposed objects that are removed from their usual context and manipulated via a range of media including painting/drawing, sculpture, installation and photo/video. Elements of narrative and character are filtered and manipulated to facilitate new readings of particular objects and situations, especially those that reflect the intersection of American life with those of the rest of the world.

In the exhibit, “Artists Guarding Artists” at Family Business Gallery, NYC, I cast a miniature version of my head and held a drawing for a limited first edition of 25. Each participant was given a ticket that had a positive, self-help slogan printed on it. Only those with golden tabs were selected.

My latest work continues to combine various elements of multi and mixed media. Oftentimes the exhibited work intentionally communicates across these media avenues. Future projects will possibly combine performance elements as well.
Some of the work allows for the placement of myself within the narrative. While I might directly reference myself, etc., I often simply position my image as part of the ongoing cast of characters.
