FRANCESCO VILLICICH
TORRENTS
LINTON & KAY GALLERIES, PERTH
September 11, 2014 – September 25, 2014
An exhibition of new works curated by Alessandra D'Arbe
Opening: Thursday 11th September 6-8pm
The exhibition will be opened by Dr Stefano Carboni, Director of the Art gallery of Western Australia
“Streams of water, thoughts or emotions that are highly seasonal, mutable, intermittent and unstable in nature”
‘Torrents’ is a body of work of metaphorical significance which is the conglomeration of the artist’s research and concepts over the years. Through the use of meaningful material the artist has developed a personal creative process which involves movement, layering and accumulation. This creates a weathered ancient looking surface full of intricacies and symbology veiled with a transparent liquid wash which speaks of a duality of dynamics and emotions. This work is an homage to nature and expresses sensitivity and respect for its fragility and power. Alessandra D'Arbe, curator Torrents, 2014.
