Education
Laura Nova lives and works on the Lower East Side in New York City. Using a wide variety of media, she explores concepts of public and private behavior and absurd moments of modern existence. She is interested in the way that environment can become a stage for social interaction. She states �my art work is based upon my observations of human actions in socially awkward situations�. She received her B.F.A. and B.A. in art and history from Cornell University in 1996 and an M.F.A. from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2001 as a Jacob Javits Fellow. She lived and worked in London as a Rotary International Scholar and completed Associate Research at Goldsmiths College in 2002.

Nova has exhibited nationally and internationally including VTO gallery in London, The Contemporary Museum in Honolulu, Chicago Cultural Center, Winnipeg Art Gallery in Manitoba, MacKenzie Art Gallery in Regina, Saskatchewan, Salina Art Center in Kansas and the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art in Florida, Bronx Museum of the Arts, Islip Art Museum in Long Island, Siggraph in Los Angeles, Exit Art in New York, Apex Art in New York, Henry Street Settlement in New York and Vertexlist in Brooklyn.

She participated in the Artist in the Marketplace (AIM) and the Henry Street Settlement Artist in Residence Program and most recently in the LMCC Workspace Program. She is an Assistant Professor in the Creative Art and Technology program at Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, New Jersey. She also enjoys cooking, traveling, competing in marathons and triathlons and completed her first Ironman at Lake Placid, New York on July 24, 2007.
