Statement
Brian Hackney is making artworks about contemporary life using mainly found images of moments of dialogue and exchange. Street encounters, outside spaces, markets, dance competitions, gallery openings to street protests. The places where mainly non-personal interactions happen. Translating the everyday into a meditation on the global nature of the world today.
Using technology to mediate the ideas of subject, means of production and delivery. Transmitting ideas as light arranged in rhythmic and lyrical activities, filtered through the processes of drawing, painting, printmaking, filmmaking, Internet and events.
Giving time and space to contemplate the results as well as research the next steps in an on-going process of growth and development.
