Image 5: Trespass, 2004. Tree, Wall Paper, Installation at Chateau de La Napoule, France, Photo: Yuki Nakamura. - Trespass is a site-specific installation developed from a recent artist residency at the Chateau de La Napoule in southern France. While at working, she was stuck by the growth patterns on a tree in the castles courtyard. The pattern evoked the map-like boundaries of her previous work (Islands series), but as part of living tree, the lines became a reminder of growth and development. The simple shape became a juxtaposition of seemingly opposite ideas boundaries and growth. (Written by Rock Hushka, a curator at Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma, USA)
