Doppelganger, 2004, 7 x Digital pints
Doppelganger is a series of seven digital portraits, created using 3D character modeling and animation software. The work is presented as a series of larger-than-life digital prints and animation software, and a real-time 3D environment addressing the portraiture environment. The portraits depict artist friends and colleagues in Basel, where I was an artist-in-residence at iaab from Jan - June 2002. The work reflects upon the historical tradition of portraiture, as an important genre in art history and explores the potential of this in the 21st century. http://www.mediascot.org/beverley_hood

The work is being developed as part of a Leverhulme Trust funded artist-in-residence post at the Edinburgh Virtual Environment (EdVEC), University of Edinburgh, from Sept 03 - June 04, with project costs funded by an AHRB Small Grant in the Creative & Performing Arts. www.bhood.co.uk/ersatz
"Self-portrait (version 1 - 3)" - image below - is a series of larger-than-life digital prints created using 3D Character animation software, selected as a contemporary medium and logical progression of tools available for figurative representation and modelling. The portraits are reminiscent of computer game characters yet present a progressive development towards a more 'normal' body shape.
