For many years the content informing my abstract work has been a pointed grab of subject matter. In the last year I have created a number of paintings that stem from the iconic images of crowns. Through the process of painting I study a bit of history while contemplating the material, historical and psychological aspects of crowns in relation to power and desire.
By using experimental materials and working on synthetic paper, I’ve been able to produce a body of work that melds painting to drawing in an exciting manner. It is my hope that I can simultaneously evoke both an emotional and thoughtful response by placing these new icons within our context of today.
