IN SEARCH OF ETHEREAL PLACES – According to mythology, before people settled in Iceland the country was inhabited by spirits. This belief has intrigued me since childhood, knowing that my forefathers accepted the existence of the ‘invisible people’ without question.

‘In Search of Ethereal Places’ is a photographic series about the habitats of the ‘invisible people,’ based on folklore research retrieved from documents, books, interviews, and from people in different towns and on farms that gladly told me what they had heard or experienced.

Using a pinhole camera, I photograph my subjects in color and black-and-white to achieve a ‘lenseless’effect that alters the reality of what is presented to viewers, and captures the stories and atmosphere of where the “invisible people” once lived. All of these places represent another world which may not be present at the moment you are looking at it.
