ACROSS BORDERS MOFFAT TAKADIWA EXHIBITION OPENING WEDNESDAY 16 MARCH: 18H00 – 20H30 WHATIFTHEWORLD is pleased to present Across Borders – a solo exhibition of new works by Moffat Takadiwa. Moffat Takadiwa’s practice over the past several years has evolved to elevate found objects into sculptural forms that engage with issues of cultural identity, spirituality, social practice and the environment. His work speaks potently to the cultural dominance illustrated by the consumption of foreign products in Zimbabwe and across Africa. Takadiwa was born in Karoi, Zimbabwe in 1983 and he currently lives and works in Harare. — GREEN ROOM OLAF HAJEK EXHIBITION OPENING WEDNESDAY 16 MARCH: 18H00 – 20H30 WHATIFTHEWORLD is pleased to present Green Room – a new solo exhibition by Olaf Hajek. Olaf Hajek is a painter immersed in a world of surreal fantasy and melancholic beauty. Drawing from diverse references such as 60’s African studio photography and the Dutch still lifes of the 1600s his work is underpinned by the colour and texture of folkloric imagery. Olaf Hajek is currently one of the most internationally renowned and sought-after illustrators and visual artists. His stylistically unique work can be seen in publications including The New York Times, The Guardian, and Vogue as well as on stamps for Great Britain’s Royal Mail. — WHATIFTHEWORLD / GALLERY 1 Argyle Street Woodstock 7925 Cape Town, South Africa Viewing Hours Tues – Fri 09.30 – 17.00 Sat 09.30 – 14.00 Or by appointment T. +27 (21) 447 2376 M. +27 79 490 7293 M. +27 76 422 2387 E.
