ShContemporary 08 - THE Asian Art Fair
returns to the Shanghai Exhibition Center September
10th-13th
After a successful debut in 2007,
ShContemporary returns to the spectacular
Shanghai Exhibition Center from September 10th -
13th. This year the fair coincides with the
opening of the Shanghai Biennale offering art lovers an
unparalleled art extravaganza in Shanghai during
September.
ShContemporary is the only major
international art show that provides a comprehensive top
quality overview of the artistic scene in Asia and creates a
cross over with the works of western artists. "The
galleries and artists in the fair have been selected on the
basis of excellent creative quality that goes beyond fashion
and market trends." stated Lorenzo Rudolf
fair director.
ShContemporary serves as a catalyst
for exchanges between Western and Asian art worlds. Over
130 exhibiting galleries representing 25 countries will
include an equal mix of the best galleries from the East and
top Western galleries. Plus, 30 artists from Asia Pacific
region will be presented in a unique curated section
Best of Discovery.

Best of Discovery
A highlight
of the fair, Best of Discovery, a
unique curated section will feature 30 artists from the
Asia-Pacific region where artworks will be presented in a
museum like, open space format. Ten specialized curators from
the Asia Pacific region who are knowledgeable with the
artistic scenes in their areas have selected artists who are
unknown and/or not yet established in the international art
world. This sector will offer visitors the opportunity to
discovery new talent while providing the artists a platform to
reach the global art audience.

Outdoor Projects
In keeping with
the fair's concept to present museum quality projects,
ShContemporary 08 debuts an exciting new component to the fair
- Outdoor Special Projects, sculptures and installations will
surround the grounds of the exhbition center.
ShContemporary is the first international art fair in Asia to
offer such a platform for artists' work in a public space.
VIP Program
A special VIP program will offer
visits to Shanghai Biennale, private collections, receptions,
and special trips including Beijing and the Nanjing and
Guangzhou Triennials.
ShContemporary is
co-produced by Bolognafiere SpA and Lorenzo Rudolf; organized
in co-operation with the following Chinese partners: Shanghai
International Cultural communication Association (SICCA),
Shanghai Art Fair Organization Committee and Eastern Shanghai
International Culture Film & Television
Group.
