calling for submission for this year's Open Show 2008. Artwork
from any medium is allowed as we hope to show a diverse and

2008 Grants - MoCC - Museum of Contemporary
Cinema, Madrid
The grants are given
to experimental films, as well as installations and
performances. All filmmakers regardless of nationality,
age, or place of residence are eligible to apply. There is no
fee or limit to the number of works submitted by each
apllicant. Two grants of Euro 4,000 are awarded anually.

Gasworks, London -Showtime: a
project geared towards performance 7th August 2008 - 16th
August 2008 DEADLINE:
Friday 6th June 2008, 5pm. Since 2006,
Gasworks has organised an annual summer open submission
project that concentrates on one art form. This year, the
focus will be on performance. How applicants approach
performance can vary from the lecture and conference format,
walks and outdoor interventions, to experimental dance, live
art and theatre.

The Abraaj Capital
Prize 2009 Application Deadline: 5pm Sunday 15th June
2008 Recognised curators from any
nationality are invited to submit one or more proposals for
separate exhibitions with individual artists currently working
in the Middle East, North Africa or South Asia. Each
successful proposal will receive up to $200,000 to include
production costs, transport and travel for both curator and
artist. Included in the budget will be a fee of $15,000 for
the curator. The final exhibitions will be shown at Art
Dubai in March 2009
Frieze Writer's Prize
2008 Closing date is: 23rd June
2008 frieze magazine writer's prize is an
annual award to discover and promote new art critics. The
award will be judged in 2008 by Tate Triennial curator Nicolas
Bourriaud, frieze co-editor Jennifer Higgie and Guardian
critic Adrian Searle.

participatory art project - a continuously growing series of
animations with many authors: The flags of every nation in
the world will transform into each other through flash
animation.Between each two flags, scenes appear that show an
aspect of the relations between the two countries and their
symbols. This series of animations is an exploration into the
meaning of imagery on flags, aiming to create interrelated
associations through questioning, reassessing, fluidizing and
