MADRID PROCESOS 08 Call for artistic projects

AVAM (Associated Visual
Artists of Madrid) invites proposals for a competition to select
eight artistic projects for inclusion in MADRID PROCESOS 08. This
competition is part of the activities of CRAC (Coordination of
Resources for Contemporary Art), an initiative sponsored by AVAM in
order to improve the working conditions for the production and
creation of works in the plastic and visual arts.

Competition
The New York City Department of
Transportation (DOT), in partnership with the Cooper-Hewitt National
Design Museum and the support of Google Inc. and Transportation
Alternatives, is pleased to announce an international design
competition for new bicycle parking for the City of New York. As
part of our effort to promote cycling as a sustainable, mainstream
transportation option and in keeping with the environmental goals of
PlaNYC 2030, DOT is seeking to tap the creative energy of the world
design and art communities for this important element of street
furniture.

Canada Work Study: Visual Arts Curatorial Program dates:

Note: Program dates exclude December 13, 2008, to
January 4, 2009. This work study program with The Banff Centre's
Walter Phillips Gallery is designed for emerging curators. This is a
hands-on opportunity that allows the participant to work on projects
with direct mentorship and support in a multitude of areas focusing
on the participants learning objectives. Learning opportunities may
be formal sessions, workshops, or informal opportunities arising out
of daily situations. The work portion of the experience will
primarily focus on activities that complement the participant's
learning objectives as the work relates to the real and ongoing
activities of the Walter Phillips Gallery.

Ceramics Research Center, in an effort to define the front edge of
experimental ceramic work, is looking for limited submissions for
the exhibition Midstream: New Ceramics from the Heartland. Artists
in the Midwestern region of the U.S. can submit up to 5 low
resolution digital images and a brief resume and statement. Artists
residing in the following states are eligible: Illinois, Indiana,
Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Nebraska, North
Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Harvestworks Digital Media Center, New York - Video Art

Founded by
artists in 1977, Harvestworks Digital Media Center has helped a
generation of artists create new works using technology. The Center
invites artists to submit videos of all types (experimental,
animation, music video, documentary, silent, short, etc) for a guest
curated video art festival. Works selected from this call, as well
as by private invitation, will be featured in a series of themed
screenings in September 2008.

DIGITAL ARTISTS EXPLORING THE FIELD OF SOUND ART AND THE

exciting opportunity has arisen to exhibit in the Atrium and Atrium
Projection Space at South Hill Park as part of the Sound:Space
season on 20 September - 9 November 2008. We invite proposals from
visual and digital artists exploring the field of sound art and the
representation of sound. We welcome proposals for both moving
image/sound and wall-based work.

Call ARTIST AND ARCHITECT IN RESIDENCE Deadlines for
applications are June 1 and November 1 each year
The Wall
House foundation offers two periods of residence for emerging
artists and architects each year: from April until June and from
October until December. The residency is the Wall House itself, the
iconic house designed by John Hejduk, which has its own studio
space.

artists' centre in dale is one of Scandinavia's leading contemporary
art venues specializing in residencies and related activities. The
centre is located in a beautiful natural setting on the west coast
of Norway 3 hours north from Bergen. nkd receives funding from the
Nordic Council of Ministers and the Norwegian Ministry of Culture
and Church affairs. The programme aims to encourage international
contacts for artists and focuses on visual culture including design
and architecture, locally rooted practice and Nordic as well as
international processes.
